Fear, angst, guilt, anticipation, and so much more can make your belly feel unhappy, unless, of course, you feel butterflies, but even those can make you dizzy. Strange place that belly of ours, full of food, drinks and feelings.
And you know what? I have a gut feeling that most of you experienced all of that and in some cases you even felt like craping your pants. Or even did? Not that it matters. What matters is that these ads for Alka-Seltzer by CLM BBDO Paris taps straight into all of these feelings and does that with beautiful minimalistic illustrations. Illustrations of situations that are exactly the cases where some relief would make you feel so much better.
Created in 2008 these small ads are still brilliant. I love their minimalism, that grey color scheme and that little guy who seems to be always in trouble, weather he is hunting, dealing with the mob, doing magic tricks, taking photos or minding his own business in the prison showers. I can really relate, and Alka-Seltzer should help, more or less.

It was yet another havering grey moody day. As the outside world switched off the lights, I was left here, in front of my MacBook, with havering thoughts and still moody head. At this precise moment I ran out of pieces of information I was scribbling here and there to fill my day and to provide information for those that might be interested in small things I have achieved. As I reached a full stop in writing, I engaged in a conversation with a friend. Conversation, supported by peer-to-peer internet communication system, ran topics as American cars run gas. Still the recent technology news played a central place. Mainly humanity of those and a human touch. With some remarks on stealing, annoying and insulting of course. However, if those insulted and annoyed are putting down their weapons now, I will loose confidence in all the great things they have achieved before and will keep loosing it unless they die out fighting. I got a bit sidetracked here but this is how our conversation went, a bit back and fourth until it reached a critical point that caught most of my attention.
Both myself and my friend are knee deep in studying materials for our MSc projects. And that means we spend huge amount of time reading and typing in front of our computer screens. Reading in a shiny screen of a laptop is not ideal, I give you that, but at this point in my life I’m quite used to that. Especially then all I need are articles, articles and articles. No book can help me. Farewell books. At least in the universe of scientific writing, when only the newest information applies. Strangely enough even the books assigned to courses I take are quite crap and do not deserve a lot of my attention. There are exception of course but that’s not the point. I still love reading and I’m a keen reader just most of reading that I do in recent period is all in my MacBook screen. And I do read books, but those are pdf files of scanned books, but books nonetheless. I call it lazy reading, as most of it is Sci-Fi novels that are fast to read and you can do bunch of other things at the same time. Thats what computers does. You can scroll, you can log, you can tweet, you can facebook, you can like and you can annoy. And while I do that, the pile of books that I really want to read but never get up to it keeps growing on my windowpane. I really have to do something about that. Its that time. Thats why this short commercial for Lane Smith children’s book called It’s A Book, that my friend sent, made me smile and think. And as I’m going for a trip this night it is a good chance to grab one and leave all the chargers behind.

MUJI always had that sense of simplicity and clean design. The concept of this advertisement only proves that. Tha Ltd. did a great job creating this looping video for MUJI shops and website. Of course I would go mental after few hours of this whistling song, but that doesn’t change my opinion and my love for MUJI CD Player.
