In this video Jeff Desom tells the story of Hitchcock’s Rear Window in a form of an incredible time-laps video of all the events in that brilliant backyard. Cut, dissected and put together in a single panoramic view Rear Window Time-Lapsbecomes something I haven’t seen before, but still has that incredible original feeling from the film. Both the video and the original are worth a peak.

There are many things I love about Darren Aronofsky’s films and while this short video sums up just one of them it does that perfectly and to my liking. Such sounds and visuals are one of Aronofsky’s trademarks and probably the best tool to create the mood of his films. From Pi to Black Swan these little visuals add more to the story than all the lengthy dialogs.

To make things even slower I’m listening to About You by XXYYXX. To be honest I like the track more than the video, but there is still something brilliant in all that slow motion and those smoking girls. To think of it, slow and moody electronics by XXYYXX works quite nicely with slow motion of Jeff Vash video.

To finish up this calm sunday evening I’m listening to some soul and these two songs by Michael Kiwanuka is exactly what one needs this breezy evening. Both of the songs come from Kiwanuka’s debut album Home Again, which was released on March 12, 2012, with two mood fitting videos. The first video is for the song I’m Getting Ready and the second one for I’ll Get Along, both breezy and easy.

Brand Spirit by Andrew Miller

We live in a branded world. We know more about brands than our history or any other school subject. There is no other thing out there that we recognize so fast as we do with brands. It takes more time to recognize an old friend than a well known brand. How about that? I’m kidding of course, but am I?

Go through all the pictures in Brand Spirit by Andrew Miller and tell me if I’m wrong. Reduced to its purest form and painted white every object still shouts its brand name loud and clear. Brand Spirit is set to be a collection of 100 white objects and it already boasts of 59 entries. The website is updated daily and a new white object is added everyday.

Ima Read is one of those tracks that suddenly reached my ears and got stuck. On repeat! Zebra Katz (Ojay Morgan) recorded Ima Read two years ago, but as all the good things it was buried below all the rubbish. The track was reintroduced to the masses by Diplo and his record label Mad Decent, as many other good things. That is why it’s no surprise that Zebra Katz and Njena Reddd Foxxx’s track reminds me of another Diplo’s pet project and new Hip-Hop starlet Azealia Banks and her track 212. Of course, all of them are doing their own thing, but this new wave Hip-Hop and these new voices are definitely worth checking out.

As for the song, Ima Read surprised me with its combination of dark, minimalistic and very low-key sound and repetitive lyrics that should get boring pretty soon, but strangely enough, it all works out perfectly and creates a decent mood. The track is great, unless you feel it is a bit too misogynistic, rude and insulting, but I’ll leave it all to your judgment.

Enjoyed Ima Read? Check out Schoolboy Q and TiRon’s new track Love Me Not! It fits beautifully between 212 and Ima Read.

Twig Drawings by Chris Kenny

What makes me extremely excited is then I notice something made of materials overlooked by so many others. And these twig drawings are definitely one of those things. In the hands of Chris Kenny these tiny pieces of wood are tangled into abstract little drawings, wood figures and tiny objects. British artist Chris Kenny is best known for his three-dimensional drawings and collages out of pieces of maps and paper, but his twig drawings are the ones that should get most of the attention. Call me mad, but they are brilliant.
